Saturday doom and gloom
It's raining and it's going to keep raining for the next week. I have a love/hate relationship with the rain. I love that it makes my little corner of the world so green. I love that we have beautiful trees and flowers. I love that the rain means snow in the mountains in the winter. I love that we don't have to worry about a drought. However...
I hate having wet feet after running through puddles. I hate having to get new wiper blades all the time. I hate the gray. I hate that this fall/winter we have to worry about an area dam failing and flooding our beautiful area.
I live on a hill so I should be safe from flooding. I'm worrying more about the fact that the rats and other vermin in the valley will come up here to escape the water. I worry about not having power or other necessary utilities because of all of the stupid water. Bleah.
This darling girl has that stupid flu. It makes me sad because she's at school a few states away and I can't do anything to help. Her wonderful mom got on a plane this morning to go take care of her so I know she'll be fine. But still, poor girl! Being sick (especially away from home) is awful.
Now that I've brought everyone down, here's my favorite Debbie Downer to make you smile. The video quality isn't great (wahhh wahhhhhh) but it's totally worth watching.

My eyes, my eyes
I'm honestly not bragging when I say I was blessed with great hair, great teeth and great vision. These are things for which I've always been grateful.
My hair pretty much does exactly what I want it to do (well, except for turning gray too rapidly.) I have more than enough of it and even though cleaning the bathroom floor is a little disgusting, I'm grateful to have hair.
My teeth are pretty nice. I've never had braces. I've got fillings in nearly every one but I'm happy just having straight teeth.
I grew up glasses-free and was happy about that. My vision used to be perfect but alas, now it's not. I hate that I can't bring things close to my eyes without everything going fuzzy. I hate that I have to have a lot of light when I read or put on eye makeup. I hate that when I want to play "Sally's Spa" on my iPod, I have to wear readers to keep everything crystal clear. I especially hate that I find myself tilting things "just so" to read them (I don't have trouble with menus though - yet.)
At Megan's beautiful wedding reception last night, I went over to the candy bar to fill a little cellophane bag with purple & green candies. The lighting was pretty low in that corner of the gym so guess what? I could NOT see the opening to the bag and finally had to have a little kid help me fill the bag. It was awful and I know it's just going to get worse.
I really thought this wouldn't ever happen to me so to all of you youngsters out there, enjoy your perfect vision while you can. Your time will come.

Two items of business
1. Do I (as a single girl) accept a friend request from a guy I don't know nor do I think I have met but who apparently wants to be my Facebook friend? Oh yeah, he's single too. I maybe have met him but I don't remember his name or face at all. I checked with one of our mutual friends and apparently he's a "nice guy."
This Facebook thing is weird. I have two friend suggestions and three friend requests I'm sitting on at the moment. Facebook should not be stressful.
2. Camp planning is upon me. I believe if you went back and read my blog about this time last year, I probably said how stressed out I was about the whole thing and guess what? I'm once again, all stressed out about the whole thing. Granted, I know I will feel great when it's over but I absolutely loathe the six month pre-work for so many reasons. This will be my 8th year in a row serving in some sort of stake-level camp calling. We camp by levels, rather than wards, in case I haven't mentioned that before. So I was a level leader for five years and the assistant stake camp director for the last three years. We have our second YCL meeting tonight and I have done nothing since the last meeting six weeks ago. Yes, the month of February was painful and stressful but I still should have been more on the ball and gotten myself ready for tonight before today. I have a big ward calling too which weighs on me because I need to do more there and I'm not.
I said this all of last year and I'm saying it again this year -- I need to come to a decision about whether I can keep going to camp year after year. I absolutely love it but it takes so much out of me. Will I miss it too much and regret not going if I "retire" after this year? Does anyone else feel torn about where they serve??? I simply cannot be the only one.
One more item -- pre work blogging is bad. I am going to be late.
