Seven on a Sunday

Let's review what happened in my fantastically exciting life this week, shall we?

1. I was sick with a rotten head cold. I sounded like a 3 pack a day smoker for awhile and coughed all night instead of sleeping but I'm better now.

2. Kim and I sang "For Good" at our Relief Society visiting teaching conference on Tuesday.

It was on the 3rd day of the sickness so my voice wasn't in great shape but it worked out okay. We had to share a mic so I asked Kim to hold it and she decided to shove it right into my mouth (yes, my lips even touched it - sick.) I kept trying to push it back to her and we got lots of laughs for our play-fighting. Look at this picture of her below - you can just tell by her expression that she is up to NO good.

The theme was some sort of chocolate extravaganza which may or may not have affected my progress at WW (keep reading for an update on that!) Here's my cute friend Joyce. I know it's hard to see but the decorations were so great -- pinks and browns everywhere and seriously, chocolate everything. Yum.

3. I gave the leadership training at our first stake camp board meeting on Thursday. You know those talk/messages that just come together exactly as they should? This was one of those. Hopefully those listening felt as good about it as I did.

4. Saturday morning, I reached -29 lbs. Very exciting. I also checked my measurements and I've lost a total of 12 inches since the first of the year. Happiness.

5. We have had the BEST weather -- sunny and nearly 60 every day. Kim and I took a glorious walk Saturday afternoon. I still feel a tiny bit sad we didn't get any snow this year but the sun is amazing.

6. I celebrated my WW milestone by having an amazingly delicious burger at 5 Guys with Krysta and Kevin Saturday night. Afterward, we saw the movie, "Valentine's Day." I had very low expectations for the movie and ended up really liking it. My random thoughts: Jennifer Garner is just lovely, Taylor Swift and Taylor Lautner were hilarious and darling, and I loved the Pretty Woman references.
I appreciate my married friends who invite me to do things and don't make me feel like a 3rd wheel or whatever. We had such a great time, despite smelling like we took a bath in burger & fry grease the entire night. Why don't places like 5 Guys have good ventilation?

7. And what's on my schedule for this week? Well, I'm doing my taxes, updating my resume, going to the dentist but best of all, seeing "Legally Blonde, the Musical" with some of my most favorite people this weekend. My darling Christina is flying up for the weekend to be my date. Can. Not. WAIT!

What I did this week (Oh but my life is exciting)

1. Worked (Love my job but wish I could pick and choose when I go in. ha.)
2. Hurt my back (it's better now)
3. Took my car in to get the truck dent fixed (they gave me a Chevy Traverse to drive - 8 seatbelts, people! I was totally wishing I had a carpool shift to take over for someone.)
4. Mailed back to Netflix one of the "Mad Men" season 1 DVDs I've had since July. Yes, you read that right. JULY! (I am terrible at Netflix.)
5. Had lunch at Baja Fresh with visiting teaching friends (yum)
6. Hung out with Kim, Kara and Jonathan (Jonathan loves me now that his aunties are out of the picture!)
7. Lost weight at WW (9 members of my stake now go to our meeting - very fun. The mormons are taking over!)
8. Bought a cute new sweater, cami, black pants and jeans (I need to get better at tossing out old stuff when I buy new stuff. Anyone have that mastered?)

Today Kim and I are going to see Lost in Yonkers (no music - will I stay awake?) and Panera. Okay, and we'll make a stop at See's. We deserve a treat! Tonight, Krysta and I are going to dinner and then to see Leap Year. Hope it's good. Tomorrow I've got something fun planned for Primary. Fun weekend, right?

The highlights of my week

Besides the Bachelor premiere and the creepy complimenter, here's what else made up my week:
  • Bought a ticket to go to Utah the end of April. I'm going to Callie's graduation from BYU (woo hoo!) and Women's Conference. It's going to be fantastic.
  • Got the H1N1 shot for free at work (I love working for a big company.)
  • Got tickets to see "Legally Blonde the Musical" for next month with Chrissy, Kim and a few of our other friends. Oh, but I'm SO excited to see this show. I think it will be difficult for Chrissy and me to not recite lines and sing the songs.
  • Ate the most amazing clementine oranges ever. EVER! I mean, so good they made my weekly highlights!
  • Bought a bag of the most unamazing (aka ROTTEN!) clementine oranges. (Thank you, Costco for the buzzkill.)
  • Started reading my book again - I don't know why I put it down. I just get busy. I wish I was independently wealthy. I could get so much more reading done if work didn't get in the way. And it's so dang cute -- thanks again for the recommendation, Shannon!
  • FINALLY got to minus 20 pounds at WW. It has taken forever but it's gone for good, people. Now I'm hard at work on the next 20.
  • Partied with some of my most favorite, longtime friends. Every January we get together to celebrate birthdays. This year, we had a theme and everyone was supposed to bring a white trash food to share. I went with my bacon cheeseball because hello, it's a ball of cheese that's rolled in a pound of fried bacon. Lisa brought this beautiful cake.

Can you even believe it? Heather brought the celery/peanut butter/chocolate chip things in the background. Patty made bacon wrapped little smokeys that sat in an oven for 5 hours basting in some sort of brown sugar sauce. Heaven. Why does bad food have to be so dang tasty?

Anyway, it was so much fun to catch up and laugh our behinds off. I seriously love these girls and already cannot wait until next year's party. (The birthday girls are the ones in sweats/pajamas...I think next year's party will be a pajama party for all of us.)

Holiday week in review + a birthday wish

I go back to work on Monday after being off since Christmas Eve. Here's what I've loved about this week away from work:

1. Doing my Wii Fit Plus every day. I got it from my dear friend Krysta (who when I told her she spent way too much on me had the greatest answer why she spoiled me. She said "it's from me AND my husband." So that totally makes it okay, right?) Anyway, it's so fun - I hope you all have tried it. My favorite is probably the snowball fight, one of the new games in the plus edition. I don't know why I get such joy throwing snowballs at little cartoon mii's set up by my family and friends but I certainly do.

2. A free $4.00 credit on Amazon for video downloads. Go here before January 3. I can download movies from Amazon on my TiVo but you can get them on your computer if you don't have TiVo. You have 30 days to start watching but once you watch, you have to finish within 2 days and then it deletes automatically. I watched A Night at the Museum and Julie and Julia over the break (slept through the first, had already seen the second. I'm dumb, I know.)

3. A super fun Laurel class reunion with eight wonderful girls. We ate lunch, played games and did the most hysterical role play to assist the girls with letting down boys they are not the least bit interested in. I wish I would have video'd it. It would get so many 5 star reviews on youtube.

4. Lots of naps with this great new down throw I got from a guy I work with. Most work gifts are candles (seriously, I have so many) but this gift of an Eddie Bauer down throw with fleece on one side and a nylon plaid on the other has been so great. The guy who gave it to me said he thought it would be perfect for camp (it would) but I want to take it everywhere I go because it's so comfy and cozy and keeps me so warm. I think I've taken three naps this break. I never ever nap otherwise.

5. Getting this amazingly cute and functional Coach wallet from my mom for Christmas. I love it. The inside is like a mulberry pink leather and has plenty of room for my cards and change. The outside is that plastic material - forget what it's called - but it stands out in my purse so I can always find it. And hello, it's my favorite brand. Love. It.

6. Reading the book, The Actor and the Housewife by Shannon Hale. I have 80 pages left and I can't wait to see what happens. The lovely and talented Janssen wrote a great review here. But seriously, just go request the book from your library if you haven't read it. It's so entertaining, clever and funny and not a waste of your time to read. And I have absolutely NO idea what is going to happen next. (Janssen, the story has taken a turn I so did not expect!!)

7. Hanging out with some of my favorite people. I spent a day with Krysta, had a game night with Lynda and her family and then several nights with Kim and the girls. I love free time and getting to be with those I love. I need more of that in 2010.

And finally, today is my bosom friend Kim's birthday. I am so glad I have her in my life. She's sweet, talented, kind, smart and fun. She can encourage you to step out of your box better than anyone I know and I love that about her. Happy birthday, dear friend!! So love you.
