My first blog post!

I have been wanting to start a blog for a long time but just haven't pulled the trigger - until now. I'm not sure why I'm starting this now. I think it's because I read so many great blogs and those prompt thoughts I'd like to share with the unknown world. Whatever the reason - here I go. I'm not sure if I'm going to follow a set format but for now, I'm going to do lists because that's kind of how my brain works. I'm also only going to mention the people in my life by first initial just because I don't want to feel like I have to ask permission before talking about anything that might involve them. That could possibly change at some point...or if I forget and just type their whole name.

1. I recently bought two new TVs and needed to get rid of the old ones. One of them is kind of big and bulky so that delayed my taking them to the DI Truck. I heard from my friend L. that her ward has a want/need/have email list so I put them on the list, asking they'd be gone by Friday (as well as my VCR - bye bye VHS, I'm in love with TiVo now.) Guess what? They're both gone and to two lovely families that I know will appreciate them and keep them in the manner to which they've grown accustomed. I have room to walk in my living room now AND I have two sexy LCD TVs in their place. Heaven!

2. I'm going to Chicago again next month! I know going to Chicago in February doesn't sound like the ideal vacation spot but I have dear friends who live there and we miss each other but most importantly, we have a lot of Wii games to play together. Which brings me to number 3 on my list...

3. After much searching of both regular and online stores, I finally found Guitar Hero for the Wii and ordered it yesterday. Wahoo! So my question is, do you think I could bring the guitar on the plane with me so D., B. and I can rock out when I'm there next month? I wouldn't want to pack it in my suitcase because you know it would get ripped off or broken but could I carry it on?? Do they make a case for Guitar Hero guitars? Would that be so embarrassing and lame?

4. K. and I went shopping at IKEA last night. I'm on the lookout for an end table and either a bookcase/sideboard type thing for my entry way. I'm in desperate need of storage. Or a bigger place to live. Or I need to throw junk away. I liked this one at IKEA but with the optional doors on the bottom shelves so I can hide stuff. I would also get baskets or boxes for DVDs/Wii stuff, etc. We're going furniture shopping again tonight because I'm not 100% sold on this one just yet. I didn't love the color selections.

5. Our ward's Relief Society started this "Great in 8" program and I went with K. to the meeting last night. It's not too far off of WW so it goes along with what I'm already working on plus there's the whole incentive points/team competition thing that will make it more fun. There's this entire list of "bad foods" though and a lot of them are things you can have on WW (like white rice) so I'm not exactly sure I'd call them bad foods. I'm trying to decide if I'll call them "bad foods" or not when I'm actually staying within my WW portions & points. Maybe I'll count them as "bad" if I exceed a certain portion size? Hmm.

6. I am SO loving the Jane Austen movies on PBS right now. I finished watching Persuasion this week and so enjoyed it. I think I need to read the book now. I'm also netflix'ing the BBC version of Jane Eyre which was highly recommended on another blog and disc one arrived yesterday. I will likely post a review when I'm finished. I have Northanger Abbey waiting for me on my TiVo as well. There's just something about these movies that makes me happy - I can't explain it any other way. And when I took the below quiz before, I was Elinor Dashwood which I think is more fitting of my personality but oh well! I have Emma-ish qualities too.

I am Emma Woodhouse!

Take the Quiz here!

7. My favorite thing in life right now? My UGG Coquette slippers. They are ridiculously priced but I have wanted them for a year and finally just said "I work hard, I have money, I'm going to buy them." They make my feet feel so good.

8. I saw 27 Dresses on Monday. It was cute but not my most favorite movie by any means. I'm not a huge Katherine Heigl fan. She just seems all screechy and bratty to me. I used to like her on "Grey's" but not so much anymore. My favorite movie this year is Juno. I love it and the bizarro/quirky soundtrack so much. I've seen it twice in fact. I don't recommend this movie for all -- but I think it should be required viewing for any teenager who is sexually active. I love that it shows adoption in such a positive light.

Okay, that's enough for now -- phew, first post of my blog is done and ready to go! So exciting...

Have a great day!
Jeanelle

yeah! You have a blog! If you go here:http://howaboutorange.blogspot.com/2007/10/how-to-do-fancy-things-to-your-blogger.html you can learn how to make your blog look pretty. This is something I need to do as well. Thanks for the reminder!

Love the blog! I think it looks pretty cool already! I found all your thoughts rather interesting. I think you SHOULD get a case for your GH guitar, can't wait to see the new furniture and TV and I as well am not a big fan of Katherine Heigl because of Grey's.
