Do I accept a friend request from someone I told more than ten years ago I couldn't be her friend anymore because she was sucking the life out of me? I kind of want to know what's going on with her but not sure it's worth the risk.

I vote yes...everyone deserves a chance to change. If she hasn't changed, just take her off again. haha

I'd say no, but I can't handle being around too many people who make me feel hopeless. I'm not kindhearted enough. :)

You can unfriend too. You told her she was sucking the life out of you, did she keep her distance then? She still knows the boundry, you will still hold her to it. Go ahead, find out how she's doing.
